7-10-14 campaign contributions

Wisconsin legislators are getting a lot of money these days from people who can’t vote for them.  Mike McCabe with the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign says state legislators accepted two thirds of their campaign donations from donors who don’t live in their district.  McCabe says this is true for both parties.  Republicans accepted a larger total amount than Democrats becaue there are more of them in the legislature.  Meanwhile McCabe says the amount of money donated from people outside the state is also up significantly.  McCabe says while some donors outside Wisconsin have business interests here, others are donating for ideological reasons.  McCabe made the comments on AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.
