7-10-14 walker raises more than twice as much as burke

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has raised more than twice as much as Democratic opponent Mary Burke over the first six months of the year.  Walker reported Wednesday that his campaign raised $8.2 million from January through June. Burke earlier Wednesday said she brought in $3.6 million.  Walker says he has $7.6 million cash on hand compared with $2.5 million for Burke.  Both campaigns reported their numbers nearly two weeks before the July 21 deadline. Burke put hers out first and Walker followed two hours later.  Burke’s campaign spokesman Joe Zepecki says she did not contribute any money toward her total, after putting in $400,000 shortly after getting in the race in October.  The election is Nov. 4.
