7-29-14 cold air funnel

The National Weather Service says cold air funnels captured on camera over Lake Winnebago this weekend posed no real danger to the public.  Meterologist Marsha Cronce says most of the times cold air funnels never reach the ground and even if they do  won’t pack much of a punch.  “If a cold air funnel would hit the ground it could cause minor wind damage.  You might get a gust of  40 to 60 mph,”  Cronce told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  Cronce says emergency management made the right call not sounding the sirens.
