The challenger for Dodge County sheriff says he feels confident with the election two weeks out. Dale Schmidt is running against incumbent sheriff Pat Ninmann. “Its finally starting to wind down and we’re getting the message out to the people that we need to have a change,” Schmidt told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. Responding to critics who argue his candidacy is about a faction in the Department upset Ninmann was recommended and appointed to the post. ‘I’d say its more than just a faction, its a large majority of the employees at the Sheriff’s Department. This was a political appointment,” Schmidt said. Todd Nehls recommended Ninmann for the job when Nehls retired as sheriff last year.
