9-11-14 fdl school safety zone improvements

Fond du Lac officials are taking additional steps to help protect students in light of increasing traffic around local schools.  The Fond du Lac school district, police and the city engineer’s office are assessing  parking and traffic safety in an effort to increase safety and traffic efficiency by observing the number of students who walk and bike to school, as well as the amount of vehicles near the schools at the beginning and end of the day.  School officials monitor activity in and around school zones, while police officers take care of illegal parking and speeding.  School district health and safety coordinator, Marian Sheridan, says 14 ordinances have been adopted within the past year to address safety concerns.
