9-16-14 voter id-league of women voters

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin is working hard to educate the public about the photo ID law that will be in  place for the November election.  League director Andrea Kaminski says most residents already have a valid ID that will be accepted at the polls.  Kaminski says if you don’t have an ID…get to your nearest Department of Motor Vehicle Office as soon as possible to get one.   “Ask specifically for a free ID for voting purposes,”  Kaminski told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  What if you don’t have a birth certificate?   “If you don’t there’s a chance that if you have never had a birth certificate they (DMV) will work with other agencies that will help you get an ID.   You might have a social security card.  Bring anything that you have and they will work with you.  But know that its going to take time.”
