9-23-14 fdl school district tax rate down

The tax rate is down in the proposed Fond du Lac School District budget.  At a public hearing Monday night superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the budget is balanced and the tax rate is projected to go down.  “We’re projecting the budget to go down by 3.5% in terms of the expectations of the taxpayer,”  Sebert said.  That’s 35 dollars for the owner of a $100,000 home.  Meanwhile Sebert  told the school board the district as a whole meets expectations in the latest report card for student achievement and academic engagement.  “We have two schools that exceed expectations, which are Rosenow and Lakeshore (elementary) for the second straight year.  In its first year of getting a school report card the STEM Academy, grades 3-5, earned the highest ranking which is significantly exceeds expectations,”  Sebert told WFDL news.
