9-24-14 aarp encourages 6th congressional district residents to ask candidates about social security

AARP is encouraging Wisconsin residents to ask congressional candidates where they stand on Social Security.  AARP’s national volunteer Board of Directors member Eric Schneidewind says the candidates are not doing an adequate job of explaining how they would strengthen Social Security.  “AARP has about 111,000 members in the 6th district and we want them to really put the heat on the congressional candidates to take a position and tell us what are you going to do  to make sure retirees get the Social Security check,”  Schneidewind told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  Schneidewind says AARP surveys consistently show that for the vast majority of voters over age 50, Social Security remains a major issue in their voting decision.
