Construction is expected to begin any day now on Grande Cheese Company’s new Fond du lac headquarters. Company president and CEO Wayne Matzke says the 87,000 square foot facility will be located on Camelot Drive off the Highway 151 Bypass in Fond du Lac. Plans to relocate headquarters from Lomira to Fond du lac were first announced a little more than three years ago. “In earnest we’ve worked on plans for this for about the past year and like anything you’re going through a concept stage and trying to bring that to reality,” Matske told WFDL news. “…when the plans get to the level they are today and knowing what its going to take to make that become a reality has got a pretty good level of excitement among all of our associates.” Matzke says the new corporate campus and research facility will be built in three phases…starting with a new headquarters building. ‘That should take place over about a 16 month period of time and will include some landscaping, we’re talking about potentially having an orchard in there. As we move to phase two that will be some additional landscaping of the property and creation of a new pilot plant. Phase three to the west will be the remainder of the landscaping. “
