10-9-14 home heating costs

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin’s biggest utility company is projecting that heating costs could drop significantly if winter temperatures are at normal levels.  We Energies said Tuesday that warmer weather and lower natural gas prices may cause the cost of heat to fall by about 26 percent.  Last winter was the coldest heating season since the Milwaukee-based company began offering its natural gas service to customers about 70 years ago.  The price of natural gas skyrocketed because of increasing demand for heat during frigid cold snaps last year. On average, heating costs surged by 42 percent for a typical customer, totaling $783 for six months of heat.  The U.S. Department of Energy said Tuesday that the cost of heating with propane should also drop this winter.
