The state Department of Health Services Influenza Surveillance coordinator tells WFDL news the number of confirmed EV D68 cases in Wisconsin has doubled in the last week.  Tom Haupt says all of the patients with the virus have been hospitalized but are expected to fully recover.  “Right now we have ten confirmed cases that were confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control,”  Haupt said.  “There’s been six of them in the southern part of the state, which would include Dane County and counties to the west,  one up in the northeastern region where you are and three in the southeast region in the Milwaukee, Kenosha and Racine area.”   Haupt says as the Enterovirus season begins to taper off the influenza season is beginning.  He says there have already been eight hospitalizations in Wisconsin because of the flu.  Public health officials are advising everyone to get a flu shot.
