10-14-14 wi attorney general race -complaint dismissed

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Office of Lawyer Regulation has dismissed a complaint from an alleged sexual assault victim who claims Democratic attorney general hopeful Susan Happ let her attacker off too easily because he bought Happ’s house.  Happ, who serves as Jefferson County district attorney, has taken criticism for reaching and deferred prosecution agreement with Daniel Reynolds. Reynolds finished buying Happ’s house for $180,000 five months before her office charged him.  The victim submitted a complaint to the OLR saying Happ’s relationship with Daniel Reynolds benefited her financially and amounted to a conflict of interest. The agency sent a letter back to the victim on Friday saying the office confirmed Happ properly recused herself from the case and an assistant prosecutor handled the entire matter.
