Nobody was injured in a chimney fire that was quickly extinguished at a Waupun residence. Fire Chief B.J. Demaa says firefighters were called to a home on Edgewood Drive Tuesday afternoon to a report of smoke coming out of the house. “Upon arrival all occupants had been evacuated and we extinguished the chimney fire,’ Demaa told WFDL news . “Upon removing the chimney cap there was a lot of nesting materials that was stuffed between the chimney flue and the exhaust line for the gas fireplace.” The fire chief says it’s a reminder to have your chimney and fireplace inspected before using it this season.
