10-23-14 local unemployment rate falls

The unemployment rate fell in almost every Wisconsin city and county in September.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that unemployment dropped in 31 of the 32 largest cities in September. The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate fell from 5.5 to 5.2 percent.  Racine again had the highest unemployment rate at 8.8 percent.  Unemployment fell in 70 of the state’s 72 counties as well.  The Fond du Lac County unemployment rate is 4.4 percent, down from five percent.  The unemployment rate in Dodge County dropped from 5.4 to five percent.  The state’s overall unemployment rate in September was 5.5 percent.
