10-27-14 walker-worker training

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker says his administration would continue to invest in worker training to provide Wisconsin’s manufacturers with skilled employees.  The Republican governor, who is facing Democrat Mary Burke, said investments in worker training are investments in economic growth in Wisconsin, providing skilled workers that allow businesses to take on more work.   Walker said the state budget includes funding that, starting next year, will help students as young as sixth grade began academic and career planning.  The lab expansion and upgrades were paid for through a $780,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor and a $1.2 million investment by the college.
