MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Government Accountability Board has asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit challenging Wisconsin’s campaign coordination law. Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Randa granted the request to block the law from the Milwaukee-based group Citizens for Responsible Government Advocates while the conservative group’s underlying lawsuit challenging its constitutionality goes forward. As part of that ruling, Randa ordered the GAB not to enforce any state law banning such coordination. The board argues the federal court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case. The board’s attorney says the Wisconsin law already is the subject of litigation in state courts. The law is at the center of an investigation into Gov. Scott Walker’s 2012 recall campaign and more than two dozen conservative groups.
