10-30-14 prison inmate death investigation

JUNEAU, Wis. (AP) — Authorities have concluded that a report of the late 1960s death of an inmate from Waupun State Prison is unfounded.  The Dodge County sheriff’s office received a complaint in June about a possible suspicious death of an inmate. The sheriff’s office did not have the name of the inmate.  The sheriff’s office and the Wisconsin Statewide Information Center searched records but could not identify a victim.  The person making the allegation described a cemetery where an inmate’s body purportedly was placed on top of another body. Last week, authorities pulled back the topsoil in an area of the cemetery but found no body. Investigators did not open any graves.  Authorities say no evidence was found that supports the allegations, and the death investigation will be closed as unfounded.
