11-30-14 packer flushing myth

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay city officials say tales of water use surging dramatically during halftime of Packer games as hundreds of thousands of fans rush to the bathroom are bogus.  The Green Bay Water Utility checked water consumption for two home games, Oct. 2 against the Minnesota Vikings and Nov. 8 against the Chicago Bears, and water usage was unremarkable.  Brian Vander Loop is the field service manager for the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, which serves an estimated 225,000 people in a 285-square-mile area. He says even if everyone rushed to the bathroom during a single 15-minute period such as halftime it wouldn’t register on the system.
