12-19-14 wisconsin traffic fatalities

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Transportation officials say traffic fatalities are continuing to decline across Wisconsin and are on track to account for the lowest number of road deaths since 1943.  As of Wednesday, Wisconsin Department of Transportation Data showed there have been 480 fatalities so far this year, compared to 527 in 2013.  David Pabst, director of the department’s bureau of safety, says officials are hopeful there will be less than 500 fatalities by the end of the year. It would mark the first time the annual amount of traffic deaths has been less than 500 in more than seven decades.
