Mayville police say a suspect involved in an armed robbery Friday morning was impersonating a police officer. The incident happened at 11am Friday on Highway TW near Theiler Park. Police say the suspect was driving a newer model, navy blue Dodge Charger and activated red and blue lights on the vehicle’s dash to perform an alleged traffic stop. The victim, a 56-year-old Watertown man told police that the suspect had a semi-automatic handgun in his hand as he approached the victim and demanded his wallet. The victim drove to the Mayville police department to report the incident. The suspect is described as a white, clean shaven male with brown hair, standing approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall. The suspect is believed to be in his late 30’s to early 40’s.
