2-26-15 fdl lakeside park-expanded survey

An expanded survey shows that young people want more food options at Lakeside Park.  Fond du Lac Lakeside Park Exploratory committee Chairman John Short updated the city council Wednesday night on the survey and work the group has been doing over the past several months.  Short says survey findings show people want to build and improve on kids’ activities and family friendly nature of the park, want more events and festivals in the park, access to rent boats, bikes and kayaks and also want food at the park with the potential for a full-scale restaurant.  “This was an open ended question.  What would you like to see at Lakeside Park that you don’t see right now?   It was the number one answer, 323 people said we want more food,”  Short told WFDL news.  That differs from the initial survey that showed people wanted concession style food at the park like hotdogs, hamburgers and popcorn…but not a restaurant.  Short says the committee decided to reopen the survey to get more responses from younger people including middle and high school students.  Short says the most people surveyed say they go to the park to relax.
