2-26-15 wi conservation congress opposes natural resources board proposal

The Wisconsin Conservation Congress is urging citizens opposed to proposed changes to the Natural Resources Board to contact their legislators.  The governor’s proposed budget would strip the board of its authority to make conservation policy for the DNR.  Conservation Congress vice-chair Larry Bonde says the NRB is part of an 88 year old system engineered to keep conservation insulated from political influence. Bonde says the governor’s proposal came as a complete surprise.”Its not really up to us, the conservation congress board, its up to the people,”  Bonde told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “So the people, if they feel their voice is importantin resource management, they really need to step up now and talk to their legislators and get this proposal removed.”
