3-2-15 preliminary hearing rescheduled for former nfdl teacher charged with sex assault of a student

A preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for a former assistant special education teacher at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac teacher accused of sexually assaulting a special education student.  Fond du lac judge Robert Wirtz  postponed the hearing until next Friday after 45 year old Dominic Carmona appeared in court yesterday without an attorney.  Carmona is charged with seven counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff.  He is being held in the Fond du lac County Jail on $30,000 cash bail. Each count carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.  According to a  criminal complaint Carmona had sexual contact with a 16-year-old female student on multiple occasions between Dec. 1, 2014, and Jan. 31, 2015.  Carmona resigned from the school February 3rd.  According to the complaint Carmona sent the girl sexually explicit emails, gave her presents including several pairs of underwear.  The girl told investigators  that they would visit cemeteries on their “dates” and the sexual activity occurred in his vehicle.
