The Fond du lac County executive says he wants the county to re-bid a student housing project. Al Buechel says the county and UW Fond du Lac are re-evaluating the decision to hire Iowa-based Bluffstone after the developer asked for a delay on the Fond du lac project following problems at similar projects in Marshfield and Baraboo. “Bluffstone has invested several hundred thousand dollars in Fond du Lac designing, getting the plans done for this building and they would really like to complete it. But we definately are looking at whether we we want to rebid this with someone else,” Buechel told WFDL news. Buechel says when Bluffstone was hired it was the only company that offered the full package…a design, build, operate proposal. The risk is that another developer may not be able to offer that. Buechel says whether Bluffstone remains the developer may hinge on how soon they are able to move forward with their other projects in Wisconsin.
