The Fond du Lac County Rolling Meadows Golf Course manager says he believes the golf course will erase its operating deficit and get back to breaking even soon.  David Brandenburg says he was at the county board meeting when supervisor Thomas Schumacher suggested the course be closed.  “Mr. Schumacher had made those statements on social media before that meeting and he can have that opinion.  Not everybody agrees with municipal golf,”  Brandenburg told WFDL news.  “It doesn’t really bother me, that’s his opinion.  I can try to convince him otherwise, that’s all I can do.”   Brandenburg says suggestions of downsizing the course by nine holes wouldn’t save money.  “Its not something I have not looked at as the manager to say what would happen if we closed nine holes would that reduce expenses and my numbers have never worked out to where that would make us better off,”  Brandenburg said.  “We would lose leagues, we would lose outings and we would lose daily play.”   Brandenburg says while he is concerned the course has been losing money in recent years, he says steps are being taken to try and increase revenue.  The county finance committee and ag committee are holding a joint meeting starting at 6pm Thursday to discuss the issue.
