The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Foundation, Inc. is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a student housing facility to be located on the campus of UW-Fond du Lac. This is the second RFP issued for this project. The first RFP resulted in a developer being chosen and Fond du Lac County entered into an agreement with them for the project in May 2014. The agreement was for an 84-bed student housing project to be built on the UW-Fond du Lac campus and ready for students at the beginning of the fall 2015 semester. UW-Fond du Lac campus property is owned by Fond du Lac County. Earlier this year, the developer requested and was granted a delay by Fond du Lac County for completion of the on-campus housing facility at UW-Fond du Lac while they finished other projects. All parties agreed to move the opening date for housing back one year to the fall 2016 semester. The developer is unable to proceed with the housing project at this time and the new RFP is being issued. “We remain committed to student housing at UW-Fond du Lac,” said Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel. “We now need to consider options so the housing project will be ready for students by fall of 2016.” After completion of the RFP process, Buechel expects to bring a new agreement to the Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors in September for consideration. The scope of work in the RFP is three-fold: pre-design; design/build; and ongoing management of the facility’s operations. Full proposals are due by 4:30 pm on Friday, Aug. 7. A mandatory Proposer’s Conference for those submitting proposals will be held 9-11 a.m. on Monday, July 20, in Room A-219 at UW-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac.
