The Dodge County Sheriff says he’s pleased with the progess his department has made during his first six months in office. Schmidt says the department has met a priority to raise money to purchase tactical rifle vests for deputies, Project Lifesaver is being implemented to track people with dementia or autism or may have wandered, and Schmidt says a third priority was the improve community relations. Schmidt says the department is also using social media more frequently than in the past. Other efforts have targeted traffic safety, and creating a countywide Child Abduction Response Team.
