7-30-15 fdl city council president says she is “not comfortable” with proposed wla-city lease agreement

The Fond du lac City council president says she would have to be convinced that the entire city would benefit before she would vote for a proposal that would allow Winnebago Lutheran Academy to develop a portion of McDermott Park.   The school wants to enter into a 50 year lease with the city to construct athletic fields and a parking lot on a portion of park land.  Council president LeeAnn Lorrigan says she hasn’t made up her mind yet on how she would vote.  “Whatever we would come to an agreement with would need to be for the community as well as WLA because its park property,”  Lorrigan told WFDL news.  “I would want to see another athletic group coming foward and saying we really need an athletic complex, more area and I’m not hearing that right now so that makes me uncomfortable.”  The proposal js on hold after the city learned the park area where the ball diamonds would be constructed is a flood way.  Lorrigan says at this point she’s not sure when or if the proposal will come back to the council.
