7-31-15 poll accessibility

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report has uncovered hundreds of accessibility problems for the disabled at Wisconsin voting sites.  The state Government Accountability Board conducted inspections at 808 sites over the past seven elections and found nearly 4,000 accessibility problems.  The GAB’s report said 42 percent of the violations were serious enough that they could prevent a disabled voter from casting a private and independent ballot. GAB spokesman Reid Magney said the board hasn’t received any complaints about a disabled voter not being able to vote due to those problems, however.  GAB officials say many of the problems can be fixed with minor corrections, such as increasing the size of the print on signs and marking accessible entrances. They say other cases could require municipalities to consider site renovations.
