9-3-15 fdl mcdermott park group moving forward with plans

A Fond du Lac Parks group is moving forward with their own ideas to develop a neighborhood park now that a proposed lease agreement between the city and Winnebago Lutheran Academy is no longer on the table.  Nancy Sondergard with the group Friends of McDermott Park says the group hopes to be able to present a conceptual plan to the city this fall and will be reaching out to partner with the city and community organizations.  “We’re looking at working with some expert resources that we’ve contacted.  We have three different options we’re exploring and getting some quotes on to help us find out how we can develop this conceptual design plan that we would present to the city,”   Sondergard told WFDL news. Sondergard says the group wants to be able to take advantage of the fact that McDermott is a high visibility park, located on busy East Johnson Street.  She says the group hopes to present something that will be unique to McDermott Park…similar to the bandshell at Buttermilk Creek Park.  Pubic Works director Jordan Skiff says he looks forward to seeing what ideas the group has.
