The American Red Cross Northeast Regional Chapter director says while the Red Cross is closing buildings in Appleton, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc and Sheboygan the volunteers are still going strong. Chapter executive Steve Hansen says the Fond du Lac building has actually been closed for some time. “We’ve got an extensive plan throughout the American Red Cross nationally where we are reducing our bricks and mortar,” Hansen told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “This is not just happening in Fond du Lac or in northeast Wisconsin, but it is across the country.” Hansen says more people are working remotely and there’s no need for the buildings. The Red Cross isn’t planning any changes in Green Bay or Oshkosh.
