10-13-15 fdl retlaw hotel placed in receivership

The Fond du Lac Retlaw Hotel has been placed in receivership and Fond du Lac city officials  say they believe that gives the hotel the best chance of surviving long term.  Fond du Lac Judge Richard Nuss has approved the appointment of Milwaukee attorney Michael Polsky as the receiver over the assets of  North Main Hospitality.  The next step could be foreclosure and Fond du Lac city manager Joe Moore says the latest legal steps hopefully set the stage for the hotel to eventually be sold and get back on its feet financially.  “Immediately thereafter the receiver hired a hotel management organization that came to town two weeks ago and began operating the hotel.  We and our fire department are very happy about that,” Moore told WFDL news.  “…there were some fire suppression system problems in that building that they have partly fixed and soon will completely fix.”    Moore says the hotel is in as good a position with the appointment of the receiver and management firm as its been in a long time.  “There are a lot of motivations now with this arrangement to not only to help the hotel operate but if the hotel were to sell to make sure it is in its best position to be sold,”  Moore said.  The Fond du Lac city council voted last summer not to renew the hotel’s alcohol license after the hotel was delinquent in payment of utility bills and property taxes.
