The Fond du Lac city council has decided to leave an open seat on the council vacant until the spring election.    At their meeting Tuesday night the council voted not to fill the vacancy  created when Brian Foster stepped down last month.  Council president LeeAnn Lorrigan says the she isn’t concerned about a council of six for the next four months.  “We’re not concerned for the fact we’ve been going the last couple months without a council person and if we have a tie vote basically what that means is that the motion fails,”  Lorrigan told WFDL news.  Lorrigan says she is concerned that an appointed councilmember would have an unfair advantage over other potential candidates in the April election.  “With no major subjects in front of us right now and with this current timeline, there just really isn’t enough time to fill that vacancy, and if they were running for city council we would put them in an unfair advantage of those other candidates.”  Lorrigan encourages residents who are interested to take out nomination papers starting December first.
