A new event this year celebrates the history of the prehistoric sturgeon and the sturgeon spearing season on Lake Winnebago. The Sturgeon Spectacular started Friday and continues through Sunday with on & off the ice activities centered around Lake Winnebago and the Fond du Lac area. Some of the activities include the Sturgeon Stampede, featuring ice-kiting, wind surfing, ice bowling, and live music. The Fond du Lac Bears will play hockey on Lake Winnebago, public skating and dog sled rides on Saturday. Other off the ice events include horse drawn carriage rides, a chili crawl, along with music and a Kiss the Sturgeon contest at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts.
