Assistant Fire Chief Steven Beer has earned Executive Fire Officer status after completing a four year program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The EFO program requires each student to attend four on-campus classes which are each two weeks in length. After each on-campus class, students must successfully complete an applied research paper within the following six months focusing on a problem area within their department. The National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program is a federally funded program which brings together fire service leaders from all over the world.
