3-30-17 beaver dam fire chief says working smoking alarms prevented a tragedy

The Beaver Dam Fire chief says a residential fire this week is a perfect example of the reason for having working smoke alarms.  Fire Chief Alan Mannel says a town of Beaver Dam family was able to escape unharmed when fire detectors sounded early Tuesday morning.    “Smoke detectors woke them up.  They went to investigate the source of the smoke and get their child out of the house.  They went to go back in to get their keys and were unable to gain access to the house due to the heavy smoke and heat,”  Mannel told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  Mannel says without working smoke alarms it could have been a tragic outcome.
