6-13-18 horace mann high school tech ed students help make signs for walleye weekend

Navigating Lakeside Park during Walleye Weekend was made a little easier this year thanks to a partnership between Mercury Marine and a  group of North Fond du Lac Horace Mann High School tech-ed students.  Fond du Lac Festivals director Leanne Doyle says her idea was to have “way-finding” signs that would direct festival-goers to the wide variety of activities during the three day family event.  Doyle says Merc  agreed to sponsor the project and the students hand-crafted  nearly 60 metal  fish-shaped signs.  The advanced welding and fabrication students cut the fish from the steel and transported them to Mercury Marine for powder coating to  seal the steel.  “This was not a simple project,”  Doyle told WFDL news.  “It sounded like a simple project but the deeper everybody got into it, it was a lot of work,  and those students really did a good job.”     North Fond du Lac superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the project was about  “people working together, promoting kids and showing their talents to the community.”
