Brendan Burmeister says he was taking a nap when there was a knock on his apartment door. Burmeister lives a block away from where a gas line exploded in downtown Sun Prairie Tuesday evening. Burmeister says it was loud and shook the entire apartment building. “…so much that I hit the floor. My cats went running, my dog went running. I was confused trying to figure out if it was in the restaurant below where I lived or if it was nearby,” Burmeister told WFDL news. “It was such a force that it shattered the windows in the hallway. It was a freaky experience.” Burmeister was good friends with the firefighter who was killed in the explosion. “He was one of those guys that got along with everybody, leaves behind a very young family.” Burmeister was a guest on AM 1170s Between the Lines program.
