8-10-18 major cocaine bust in fdl

Sixteen people have been charged in connection with a major cocaine bust in Fond du Lac.  Fond du Lac police say the suspects distributed more than 100 pounds of cocaine with a street value of more than $9.6 million.   The suspects have been arrested over the last several months.   One suspect is out of jail after posting bond and police are still looking for two suspects.  Joel Lee is the ATF assistant special agent in charge.  “This is not over,”   Lee said at a press conference Thursday at the Fond du lac Police Department.  “It is our goal to absolutely cripple any armed drug trafficking  organization that is targeting this area.”  District attorney Eric Toney says the ties to this conspiracy stretch from Fond du Lac to Milwaukee and down to Chicago.  “I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done.  This isn’t a victory lap for us to pretend that the work is done,”  Toney said.  “There’s still illegal drugs and illegal firearms on our streets.”   Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb the investigation was  a collaborative effort between local, state and federal law enforcement.  “We continue to work diligently to protect our city streets,” Lamb said.   Attorney general Brad Schimel says while the case is large in scale,  Fond du Lac is not alone when it comes to drug trafficking.  “The drug trade is dangerous.  People that are doing this commit violent acts.”
