9-6-19 puppies mistreatment case update

The Fond du Lac animal shelter manager says two puppies rescued after they were tossed into a retention pond this week are doing well.  A man and woman from Georgia were arrested after witnesses said the man was tossing the 8-9 week old puppies into the retention pond on West Rolling Meadows Drive and South Hickory Street Sunday evening.  “One of the puppies was apparently coughing up water.   My concern was the possibility that they had water in their lungs, which can be fatal if it leads to pneumonia,”  Animal Shelter manager, Renee Webb,  told WFDL news.  Webb says a veterinarian also expressed concern about the puppies possibly ingesting blue-green algae.  But Webb says today the puppies are in good spirits and are playful.   The two individuals who were arrested were transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail where they face charges of mistreatment of animals.
