The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer is urging people to stop vaping.   As of September 6, 2019, over 450 possible cases of lung illness associated with the use of e-cigarette  products have been  reported to CDC from 33 states. According to the CDC, five deaths have been  confirmed in California, Illinois, Indiana,  Minnesota, and Oregon.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there have been no confirmed cases in Fond du Lac County, but  says she is  urging residents to stop using any type of electronic smoking device.   Mueller says if any resident currently using  an electronic smoking device (E-cigarette) is  experiencing any  symptoms,  they should  talk to their  doctor immediately.  Patients in this investigation have reported symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, or chest pain,  nausea,  vomiting, or diarrhea fatigue, fever, or weight loss.   The severity of the disease has varied, with some needing assistance to breathe.   Mueller says  It is not yet known what the long-term health effects will be.
