10-9-19 fdl county public health officer backs lyme disease bills

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she supports a package of  bills to combat Lyme disease.  The state senate has approved the bills that require the DNR to post Lyme disease warnings on state land and sell insect repellent at state parks and forests.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says Lyme disease has been confirmed in every county in the state.  The DNR would also have to include information on Lyme disease in state park brochures and run an annual Lyme disease public awareness campaign.  The average number of Lyme disease cases in Wisconsin has more than  doubled  over the last decade.  Mueller says this year there have been seven confirmed cases and  10 probable cases in Fond du Lac County.
