10-10-19 dodge county assistant district attorney running for circuit court judge

Dodge County assistant district attorney Jim Sempf says he has the experience to serve as a circuit court judge.  Sempf is one of two candidates running for the Branch 4 seat being vacated by retiring judge Steven Bauer.  Sempf says he has handled hundreds of  cases over the past 14 years including sexual assaults and domestic violence cases.   “After 14 years I’m ready for the next challenge,”  Sempf told WFDL news.  “One thing I do in my current job is I get a lot of the complicated stuff.  A judge has to do that as well.  That’s why I enjoy dissecting those types of things, as a prosecutor I’m in court almost every single day.”  Sempf says overall he believes Dodge County is a safe place to live.  Sempf graduated from West Bend High School and received his undergraduate degree in political science from UW-Madison.  He graduated from Valparaiso School of Law, and was hired by then Dodge County DA, Steve Bauer, as an assistant DA.
