5-21-20 wi lieutenant governor says republicans abdicated their responsibility

Wisconsin’s Lieutenant governor says Republican legislative leaders never wanted to negotiate in good faith when it came to developing statewide rules to control the coronavirus.   Lieutenant governor Mandela Barnes made the comment on AM 1170s Between the Lines program after the governor withdrew an outline for statewide rules this week amid fierce Republican opposition.   “You can’t just say something is bad without trying to fix it or at least showing a desire to fix it,  Now they say we’re going to leave it up to local governments to figure it out, but if that was the case we should at least have had some guidelines they could operate by or within,”  Barnes said.  Barnes says Republicans abdicated their responsibility and never wanted to negotiate in good faith.  A key Republican on the legislature’s rules committee accused Evers of trying to use the process to reinstate stay at home.
