6-6-20 fdl high school students receive award for musical

The Fond du Lac High School production of the musical
“Curtains” was recognized by the Fox Communities Performing Arts Center during their Center Stage Awards
Showcase on May 24, 2020. The school’s production of “Curtains” won two awards – Outstanding Overall
Production and FHS student Jaeden Schmidt received a Rising Star Award for his role as Christopher Belling
in the musical.    “Our entire cast, crew and orchestra are thrilled to be a part of the Center Stage Music Theater Program   through the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center,” said Cory Schneider, the Choir Director at Fond du Lac High
School. “To be recognized by theatrical professionals on a regional level is very rewarding and humbling.”
The Outstanding Overall Production award is the highest honor given. If there was an in-person showcase,
FHS would have been invited to perform one song from their musical during the Center Stage Showcase. “Our
theater students put in a lot of hard work to perform at a high level. It is indeed a huge honor to be recognized
as one of the Outstanding Overall Productions in northeast Wisconsin,” added Schneider. “This award is
something that our students, school, and community should be very proud of.” A total of five area high schools
received this level of the award, the others being: Ashwaubenon High School, Fox Valley Lutheran High
School, Green Bay Southwest High School and Neenah High School.    Two Rising Star Awards are given to a freshman or sophomore in a major role. FHS sophomore Jaeden
Schmidt received the award for his performance as Christopher Belling in “Curtains.”
