7-5-20 fdl firefighters busy over holiday weekend

Nobody was injured in three separate fires over the weekend in Fond du lac, at least two of which,  were started by improper disposal of fireworks.  Shortly before 11pm Saturday firefighters were called to 956 New Haven Avenue for a report of a garage fire.   A passerby was flagged down by the resident and extinguished the fire by the time firefighters arrived.   The fire damaged a portion of the garage wall.  The fire started from improper disposal of fireworks in a garbage container.   An hour and a half later firefighters were called to the Fond du Lac Townhomes at 195 S. Brooke Street for the report of a dumpster fire.   Fire destroyed the garbage / recycle dumpster shelter located in the rear parking lot of the multi-family apartment complex and damaged the exterior vinyl siding of the apartment building.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Prior to that incident improperly discarded fireworks also destroyed a garbage container at 411 North Peters Avenue.
