2-26-15 man from netherlands accused of stalking fdl high school student

It’s a scary story of how dangerous it can be to have an online relationship with a person you don’t know. Bail has been set at $40,000 cash for a man accused of stalking a Fond du lac High School student he had an overseas online dating relationship with.  Hendrikus Cornelius Descendre is charged with one count of stalking.  According to a criminal complaint Descendre had begun an online dating relationship with the alleged victim six months ago, that was ended by the victim last October.   According to the complaint Descendre who lives in the Netherlands flew to Wisconsin and drove to Fond du Lac where he took pictures of the victim’s high school, a house and park in her neighborhood and posted them on his Facebook page. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Descendre also sent the victim’s mother an email about being in love with her daughter and showed up at her workplace.  “Its very frightening to think this individual who basically had some correspondance with this young 18 year old girl  who is a high school student and all of the sudden jumps on a plane and flies across half the world to come to Fond du Lac Wisconsin where he is trying to make contact with the victim,”  Klein told WFDL news.  Klein says when officers made contact with Descendre he told told them  he was in love with the girl and came to America to speak with the victim about why their relationship ended.  Police told him not to contact the victim or her mother or he would be arrested.  But according to the complaint the defendant sent a flowers, a teddy bear and chocolates via UPS to the girl’s home the day before Valentine’s Day.  The card on the flowers states  “…the time of love is almost here and I cannot hold back my feelings for you anymore.  If you’re able to spend it with me I would absolutely love it.  I’ll be waiting for you inside Shopko on Saturday-love your Secret Admirer.”
