CTH VV (PIONEER RD) from Hickory Street to Rogersville Road
Schedule: April 2017 thru November 2017
Description of work: This is a joint project with the City of Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac County through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.  This project will include the reconstruction of CTH VV (Pioneer Road) from west of Hickory Street to north of Rogersville Road.  The project is converting a 4 lane rural roadway into a 4 lane urban roadway with raised median and turn lanes. The signalized intersection at Pioneer Road and Military Road will be converted to a roundabout.  The main entrance/exit to Mercury Marine will also be changed from a stop sign controlled to a signalized intersection.
These changes will alleviate substandard intersection geometrics and improve safety.  Both on road and off road bicycle accommodations along with pedestrian accommodations will also be added along the project.  Overall, the pavement is in poor condition and will be replaced as part of the project with new concrete pavement.  Additional lighting will be installed along with landscaping.  Currently utilities have been relocating for start of the project.
The work consists of placing new sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, excavation, grading, stone base, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, asphalt pedestrian trail, traffic signals, lighting, pavement marking, signing, and landscaping.
Tentatively Start: April 10, 2017
Traffic impacts: When construction starts Pioneer Road from South Hickory Street to Rogersville Road will be closed to thru traffic.  South Military Road from the IH 41 off ramps to Pioneer Road will also be closed to thru traffic.  There will be a signed detour for Pioneer Road via STH 23 (Johnson Street) to IH 41 to Hickory Street.  There will also be a signed detour for South Military Road via IH 41 to Hickory Street.  Detour signage will be installed along IH 41 directing northbound Military Road traffic to the Hickory Street interchange, at which point traffic will follow the signed detour on Hickory Street.  South Military Road between Pioneer Road and Rogersville Road/Oak Park Avenue will be closed for a period of two months which is tentatively scheduled to occur in September and October.  At times access through the construction zone will be limited. Access through the construction site to Sullivan Drive and Rogersville Road may be limited at times but access to the businesses will be maintained through various routes.  Motorist should use extreme cation and be aware of changing conditions.
