3-13-20 governor evers declares public health emergency

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Tony Evers has declared a public health emergency over the coronavirus. Evers’ move Thursday helps free up resources to respond to the virus that has been confirmed in six people in Wisconsin and is expected to spread. Meanwhile, the state’s high school athletics association moved to restrict winter sports tournaments attendance. State Capitol tours are on hold indefinitely. Evers says, too, that the state is bracing for the return of nearly 40 people on a cruise ship exposed to the virus and the National Guard will transport them to their homes when they arrive back in the state.
