Fond du Lac County Public Health officials continue to track down people that may have had contact with Fond du Lac area residents who were exposed to the coronavirus on board an Egyptian cruise ship as they try to contain an outbreak. The state Department of Health Services reported four new cases in Fond du lac County Friday bringing the total number of cases to six. Three new cases were reported in Sheboygan County. Public health officer Kim Mueller says some of the people on the cruise attended events locally before the first cases of coronavirus were confirmed this week. “I believe there are a couple of bigger events a couple of the travelers did attend over the last week,” Mueller told WFDL news. Mueller says the effort is to try to contain further spread of the virus in the community by getting people who have symptoms tested. Saint Agnes Hospital president Katherine Vergos says the hospital is prepared for an outbreak and the potential for handling more patients. Vergos says through social distancing and limiting gatherings it gives the ability to not eliminate, but reduce exposure to the virus.
